Yahoo Inc. on Monday said it will unveil a new search advertising platform during the third quarter of 2006 designed to help businesses better connect to Yahoo users. Yahoo said the new platform will allow advertisers to quickly launch search advertising campaigns across Yahoo and its distribution network and be rolled out on a country-by-country basis in multiple phases.

The first phase, which involves building the core data platform and technologies, is almost finished. The second phase, set to begin in the third quarter, will involve making Yahoo's new campaign management application and initial features accessible to advertisers.

Microsoft Corp. has held discussions to buy a stake in Internet media company Yahoo Inc. to compete against Google Inc., the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.

If this comes true, it will make a change to the search marketing. You know what Microsoft's strength is its domination on the operating system, what if Microsoft provides the default search engine to Yahoo! with your new Internet Explorer 7 installation on your computer and asks you to set it default whenever you update the patch from your Windows. Or install a desktop search tools from Yahoo! brand?

1. Google AdWords referrals

We have added Google AdWords to the growing list of products which you can refer to your users using the AdSense referrals feature. Add an AdWords referral button to your site and inform your users about the value of advertising on Google and our network of partner sites. You will earn $20 when an advertiser you refer spends $100 on advertising within 90 days. AdWords referrals are available by visiting the AdSense Setup tab and choosing Referrals as the product.

Google has complained to the Justice Department that Microsoft's new browser unfairly steers Web traffic into using Microsoft's MSN Internet search service. The browser -- Internet Explorer 7 -- contains a slender box in the corner that allows users to type in a query without going to an online search site, and the software is set up to use MSN. Microsoft says customers can easily change the settings to use other search engines such as Google or Yahoo! A Google spokesman said Microsoft was "taking away choice from users."

Recently, we are trying to revamp one of our client's homepage with SEO, and we have tried to put the related keyword in the "title" tag, but this round, we want to do a little experiment on the importance of the "alt" attribute.

Surprisingly, we found that some of our page rank high to ten something within a week after googlebot visit. This wonders us that does ALT tags matter again in Google again, or Google has rebuilt its own ATL index. Actually the ATL index is sort of rumor in the net without any proof of it. Anyway, we are now trying to use some competitive keywords and try to verify the effect of ALT again.
